Shigeki SASAKI is a Professor, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan. He obtained his doctoral degree at Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the University of Tokyo in 1982. After postdoctoral fellow at Indiana University, USA, he returned to the University of Tokyo as an assistant professor in 1984, and promoted to Associate Professor in 1990 and full Professor at Kyushu University in 2002. His research interest has been focused on the development of functional molecules with specificity toward DNA and RNA. He obtained  the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan Award for Divisional Scientific Promotion in 2002, Asia Core Program Lectureship Award by Taiwan in 2011, Asia Core Program Lectureship Award by Hong Kong in 2012, and the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan Award in 2017.
